Meet the Team
Allison Stein, LCSW
Allison has been in both group and private practice since 2018, and works exclusively with adults over the age of 25. She uses a collaborative and integrated approach to therapy that guides her clients through a careful and safe exploration of their conscious mind and subconscious psyche. With a strong therapeutic alliance at the core of therapy, this type of depth work often leads to profound changes in thought, behavior, and feeling, resulting in a more fulfilling and peaceful life experience. Allison’s clinical interests lie in working with anxiety and related mood challenges, OCD, complex relational trauma, relationship issues, and suicidal ideation.
Working from a psychodynamic perspective, and informed by theories of attachment, Allison integrates the following modalities when clinically appropriate: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Exposure and Response Prevention Therapy (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS).
Over the last few years, Allison discovered a passion for the training of novice therapists and peer consultation. Outside of Emerald, Allison trains and supervises advanced clinical interns seeking graduate degrees in Social Work and Counseling, newly licensed therapists, and facilitates group consultation among colleagues.
Fun Facts: Allison enjoys playing volleyball, exploring Chicago’s food scene, and visiting our National Parks whenever possible. She often has a tiny guest in her virtual sessions, her rescue pup, Douglas.
*Allison is accepting new clients although there may be a short wait.
